It was 28ish years ago today

Today Newport will play York City in the FA Trophy, as you can see from this scarf;

Twenty eight years ago Bangor City made it through to the FA Trophy Final and earned a 0-0 draw. That result means that as I type this Bangor City remains the only unbeaten Welsh side to play at Wembley. You can call me selfish if you want but I’d like it to remain that way, especially in the light of the welcome that Newport’s shaven headed geezers gave us in 2007.

Incidentally Bangor’s scorer at Wembley, Paul Whelan A.K.A. “Whelo”, shares my birthday. I found out on a trip to a Welsh Cup Final that a birthday wasn’t the only thing we shared; we were both showered with bottles of urine for a birthday present one year, we were both in Milan on September 6th 2003.

Anyway, here’s some footage of Bangor’s big day;
